This book has been a favorite of mine since early middle school, when I realized that watching and cheering for football players was even less of my thing than the pep rallies that revolved around them. Surprisingly, that’s how I found this gem of an oldie. Just chilling in the back of the upper-middle-school library with literal dust gracing the cover.
I was at the upper-middle school as a spectator for that year’s cheerleading tryouts when I decided loud crowds were not for me. So I took to wandering the halls until I stumbled upon the library. Not only was their library bigger than the lower middle school, but it was also ten times as quiet. Immediately, I began to hunt for the nearly nonexistent romance section until I chanced upon Barbara Cartland’s A King in Love.
At first, I was unsure about the older language. Still, after reading for a while, I found the older word choices similar to those of Arian Whitewood, another character from my very first Romance novel. Anyway, I’ve re-read A King in Love more times than I’ve burned chocolate chip cookies, and that is saying something.
