While some people dream of sipping wine in Tuscany or backpacking through the Alps in a soul-searching haze, my future travel plans are a little more… Korean drama meets National Geographic meets maybe-I’ll-accidentally-run-into-Felix-from-SKZ-at-a-convenience-store.
Yes, I’m planning a full-fledged South Korean getaway. Passport? Check. Optimism? Naïvely intact. Canon EF-S lenses? Cleaned, charged, and ready to zoom in on both ancient palaces and unsuspecting idols who totally won’t file a restraining order if I happen to snap a “candid” near a café.
The dream? Wander through Seoul like a Pinterest board come to life—dodging mobs of fans outside K-pop agencies while somehow managing to eat my weight in authentic beef bulgogi. I’ll soak in the sights: Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, street food stalls that whisper “you’ll regret this later but live your truth now,” and hopefully one rooftop coffee shop where I can dramatically journal in broken Hangul.
Of course, I’ll be dragging along a slightly less enthusiastic tour guide (read: a friend I bribed with free flight miles and the promise of skincare hauls), who will lovingly remind me that the odds of “accidentally” bumping into Felix are lower than my self-control at a Korean BBQ buffet.
But that’s the beauty of travel, right? You pack your bags full of camera gear and delusions, board a plane, and hope that somewhere between the sights, the smells, and the street performances, you find a little magic—or at least a decent selfie angle.
So stay tuned. Next stop: South Korea. Where the history is rich, the food is sizzling, and the chance of meeting your K-pop bias is statistically nonexistent—but emotionally very real.
