What comes to mind when October’s on the table? While I’m certain 51.9% of my readers dream of gluing on forgery fangs for the impending Halloween season, the other 48.1% have visions of red and gold leaves dancing in their heads. I’m an honorary member of both factions.
October is one of my favorite months, right after Valentine’s and the month of Christmas. “Why,” you ask? It’s as clear as day, my dears. For the earrings! Okay, it’s childish, but stay with me. Unlike my previous job, dressing up is not allowed during work hours. The most I can wear is my hair tied in a witch-covered bow. And then it hit me, if being Halloween-esque is against the rules why not wear something witchy under the radar. After all, who says spiderweb earrings can’t look professional?
I love the Fall season, and the clear, crisp air gets me every year. This year, when October hit, I took one look around, turned to my mother, and said, “Where are the dead leaves? There is absolutely no red and gold. Where is the beautiful death?” I was on the receiving end of my mother’s “Have you finally lost it?” looks, but it brought a grin to my face in the end.
What month do you favor?
