In my ideal space, there would be a desk of deep chocolate brown and reddish brown wood, open at the bottom with space to move around freely. About the size of a large German Shepherd, it would nestle horizontally between the wall and a window facing the water. Atop would perch my laptop, a wireless mouse and mouse pad, and a lamp shaped into a crescent moon. The blue stained glass would surround the lamp’s bell, giving off an ethereal glow in the large room.
Beside the desk, a small bench similar in color would rest under the window. A cream-colored cushion is soft as rabbit fur settles between the dark rails on either side, and little pale green, white, and pale blue pillows are set on either side.
On the opposite walls, three bookshelves of fictional books would be organized in typical library fashion. Each bookstand would be designated according to reading preference: one for books already read, one for unread, and one for books I want to reread.
My space would be significantly about the size of a master bedroom to give a less constrained feel. An ivory cotton and wool rug would blanket the floor from wall to wall on each side. There would be no television or other computers to avoid distraction while writing.
Tomorrow, the 28th, is my birthday. Sadly, I won’t be able to celebrate it this year, but regardless, I hope you’re enjoying these last few days of 2023! Wish me luck tomorrow, and hope the birthday fairy brings me a new book.

I really appreciate the details that make me feel like I’m in the space you’re describing! Also, happy early 28th birthday! Bummer that you won’t get a celebrate, but I’m sending vibes that you get a book. 🙂
