Black noose tie.
White veiled eyes.
Little feet waddle as petals scatter by.

His lips curve in a small grin
As she stops and suddenly tilts her chin.
Between chubby fingers, her dress is twinned,

Held tight by her daughter in the midst of tears,
She kneels in her gown, soothing her fears.
When a low murmur pulls her clear.

To one knee he knelt, holding out an item blue.
To her chagrin, he chuckled as tiny lungs cried “My shoe!”
In her daughter’s eye, she saw love shared between the two.

Hefting her into his arms, her daughter squealed with laughter.
With soft eyes she watched, as the duo motioned her after.
Ready to end the ceremony and begin a new chapter.
